It's Not a Knowledge Problem.
It's a Navigation Problem.

You read a question. You know the answer is in the book. You just can't find it fast enough. So you start flipping — page after page, second after second.

By the time you find what you're looking for, you've burned 4-5 minutes on a question that should've taken 60 seconds. Now do that 30 times.

The exam is open book. You don't need to memorize the NEC. You need to navigate it.

Most electricians don't fail because they don't know the answers. They fail because they can't find them fast enough.

One Question. Five Cuts.
One Page Turn.

Here's exactly how the system works on a real exam question — the kind that makes most people flip for 5 minutes.

Sample Exam Question

"In a dwelling unit, GFCI protection is required for all 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles in which of these locations?"

1
Step back: The choices are lists of rooms. That is the job. The 15- and 20-amp rating is the circuit, not the topic.
2
Chapter: A dwelling room list is a branch-circuit rule. The chapter cut puts branch circuits in Chapter 2.
3
Article: Stay in the table of contents. Under Chapter 2, find the branch-circuits line. Don't leave the front of the book yet.
4
Section: Still in the contents, find the ground-fault line for dwellings. That line names the page. Turn to it.
5
Scan: Scan the dwelling list for the rooms in the choices. You land on 210.8(A).
Five cuts. One page turn.

Stay in the table of contents until the line names the page. Turn. Then read.

Every minute you waste flipping is a question you don't finish. Every question you don't finish is a point you lose.

Tim has been a licensed electrician since 2002 and has spent more than 20 years in residential, commercial, and industrial work in Western Massachusetts. He created this guide after seeing too many capable electricians miss passing scores for one reason: they knew the material, but couldn't find it fast enough during the exam.

Straight Answers.

"I already have a study guide. Why do I need this?"
Your study guide teaches you content. This teaches you how to find that content when you've got 3 minutes per question and the clock is running. They're not the same thing — and without navigation skills, your study guide won't save you.
"Is $39 really worth it?"
The exam retake fee alone is $78. Add time off work and delayed wages — failing costs hundreds. If this guide helps you pass even one attempt earlier, you've made $39 back many times over. The average raise after passing journeyman is $15K/year.
"I need practice questions, not theory."
This isn't theory. It's a skill. And without this skill, practice questions are just exercises in frustration. You'll keep missing questions you actually know — because you couldn't find the article in time.
"Is this for the 2026 NEC?"
Yes — this edition is written for the 2026 NEC. Article numbers and structure match the 2026 code cycle (including the load-calc and EMS reorg). If your exam or job still uses an older cycle, wait for your jurisdiction's adoption or use the edition that matches your book.
"I already failed. Not sure anything will help."
If you failed because of time — if you ran out of clock while searching for answers — this is exactly what you need. This is the thing that was missing.
